Reports are coming in that Internet Explorer 8.0 - which is apparently alpha testing amongst the chosen few - will have some excellent privacy features when it ships in its gold code version towards the end of the year.
Rather than just having a simple "porn mode" (as I call anonymous browsing) the facilities will be highly granular and support:
InPrivate Browsing - which lets you control whether or not the browser stores your browsing history, cookies, and other data.
Delete Browsing History - which helps you control your browsing history after you've visited certain Web sites.
InPrivate Blocking - which informs you about content that is in a position to observe your browsing history, and allows you to block it - very handy for porn sites -Ed.
InPrivate Subscriptions - which allows users to augment the capability of InPrivate Blocking by subscribing to lists of Web sites to block or llow.
Other features of IE 8.0 will reportedly include safer Web 2.0 site browsing, as well as DEP - data execution protection, a feature that stops any nasties executing in the Explorer sandbox environment.
Sounds good. Think I'll stick to Firefox for the time being though...
